Both trips wil accommodate four anglers per trip. The two professional fly fishing guides who will rotate among guests each day. So 2 anglers per guide per driftboat. Two professional white water guides will ensure safe navigation and will also take care of all the groups catering needs.
These trips are self-sufficient mobile wilderness camps. Ark inflatable drift boats/rafts & canoes are to move from campsite to campsite, they carry all equipment required on route down the river. This trip is for the adventurous angler, with an appetite for a wilderness experience and therefore an average-to-good level of fitness is necessary
The pristine wilderness camping, adrenaline charged white water sections, and stark beauty of the Kalahari Desert is a massive highlight of these trips, not to mention the wonderful fly fishing.
Fly fish largemouth yellowfish
Here is a quick description of the two options
Upper Drift
This is a beautifully scenic section of river, with more ‘largie specific’ water. The section is shorter in distance (30km), however it holds more flat water. Guests are transported up river, then fish on the drift back down to camp, which is 5 days long. It is for anglers who are keen to maximise their time fly fishing. There are two class 3 rapids which are navigated under supervision of our professional white water guides and focuses on largemouth yellowfish. Anglers will fish hard throughout the day focussing on specific pools, this is becasue it enables guides and guests to work together for shots at trophy largies.
Onseepkans Gorge
This section is nothing short of magical. Guests will have the opportunity to not only see the breath-taking Onseepkans Gorge, but paddle and fish it! This drift is 40km long. It includes class three rapids, flat water paddles and some sections that require a portage (Richie Falls), which is more physically demanding than the upper sections. This drift is for the adventurous angler. An all-round Orange River experience, adventure of the Onseepkans Gorge fishing and its traverse. fly fish largemouth yellowfish and smallmouth yellowfish, as well as
species not commonly targeted on fly (catfish, bream, and carp).
